Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mirko Peglow Receives Research Award in Helsinki
Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mirko Peglow, Process Engineer and Head of the research group InnoProfile NaWiTec at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, was recognized for excellence in research in the field of Drying Technology. On 21st of June, he was awarded the price "Outstanding Achievement and Excellence in Drying R&D" on the Nordic Drying Conference 2011 (NDC) in Helsinki (Finland). A high level international panel of experts decides on the bi-annual award of the prize.
At the event, with participants from over 25 countries, his performance in the examination of the processes involved in particle formation in fluidized bed processes in particular has been recognized.
With the fluidized bed process, liquid products are converted into granules, whereby substances are better for the industry to process. The properties of the produced granules, such as size, moisture, or a precise composition can be varied by the fluidized bed process. The research results from Peglow are interesting for production processes in the industry, mainly in terms of energy efficiency and product quality.
The research in the field of fluidized bed technology has a long tradition at the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg and is prominent internationally. In addition to his work as Head of the research group NaWiTec, Mirko Peglow is active in the board of the Growth core Fluidized bed and Granulation - WIGRATEC. Since 2009, this network of research institutions and regional industry partners developed new methods and technologies in the field of fluidized bed technology.
