Manuel Janocha Receives the 2016 VDI Award
Mr. Manuel Janocha, B.Sc. was granted the 2016 VDI Award for his outstanding bachelor thesis on the topic “Modelling and optimizing a re-cooling water system in a chlorine alkali and vinyl plant”. The scientific study is characterized by its discoveries in terms of increasing efficiency and furthering the development of engineering processes in an industrial plant, which are applicable in practice. As such, an accurately detailed and realistic model of the re-cooling water system was developed and the economic method of operation of the systems was determined. The study was performed under the supervision of JProf. Dr.-Ing. Fabian Herz of the Otto von Guericke’s Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics and Dipl.-Ing. Jörf Schmidt from the Dow Olefinverbund GmbH in Schkopau. The ceremony took place under the 8th VDI Forum on Business and Science on 08 June 2016 in Magdeburg.
