24.05.2016 -

The Max Buchner Research Foundation’s DECHEMA Award 2015 goes to Professor Dr.-Ing. Stefan Heinrich. The award is endowed with 20,000 euros and is awarded annually for outstanding research work concerning technical chemistry, process engineering, biotechnology, and chemical equipment engineering. Heinrich is honored for his groundbreaking experimental and theoretical work regarding particles in fluidized bed granulation. These methods allow for the production of particles with specific properties for use in various sectors such as the pharmaceutical and food industry, biotechnology, ceramics, and battery materials.

Stefan Heinrich, born 1971 in Wolmirstedt, studied chemical engineering/thermal engineering at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. He took over a junior professorship in “Dynamics of property distributed systems in solids process engineering“ there in 2002. He has been a Professor and the Director of the Institute for Solids Process Engineering and Particle Technology at the TU Hamburg-Harburg since 2008.

His work has received numerous awards, including the 2004 VDI Ring of Honour, 2005 Engineering Award of Saxony-Anhalt for "Innovative Engineering Services for Energy Use", the "Otto - SWM Business Prize 2005” for the development of the software product FBSim, and the 2006 Research Award of Saxony -Anhalt for Applied Research.

The DECHEMA Award is endowed with a gold medal and 20,000 Euros. The award ceremony will take place on 1 June 2015 in Frankfurt/Main at the DECHEMA House.
