Sign Up Now: Internship for Secondary School Students in "Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics"
All secondary school students who are interested in biology, math, physics, or chemistry and are looking for study program or career path inspiration, will gain insight into working in engineering sciences during the student internship “Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics”. The internship will take place from 21 until 24 March 2015, during the week before Easter. Since Saxony-Anhalt does not have an entire week of Easter break, we recommend that interested students request exemption from school in a timely manner.
Students 16 years of age or older may participate. The registration deadline is 26 February 2016.
For many years the student internship Process Engineering and Technical Cybernetics has a been a fixed address for all secondary school students who are interested in biology, physics, and chemistry and would like to set the course for their study programs and career paths. The internship offers tests, experiments, and brainteasers and provides insight in the day-to-day work of scientists, specifically those involved in engineering sciences.
During the week of the internship, participants will learn about the various research fields and work areas at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg as well as at the neighboring Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering. The topics will range from green algae, nanoparticles, and bioreactors to the mathematical modeling of such systems and all the way to the control of robots.
Every experiment begins with an introduction and discussion of the topic. The students develop the a test procedure together.
Additionally, students will hear presentations by young scientists and professors on current research topics, e.g. bioprocess engineering, and will find out, among other things, what exactly technical cybernetics actually is.
Their own experiences as well as their conversations with the institute's employees help the students set the course for their study programs and career choices.
Academic secondary school students 16 years of age or older who are interested in science and engineering may participate. The registration deadline is 26 February 2016. The internship is supervised by the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg’s Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering.
