Successful Cooperation with University in Shanghai
Prof. Dr. Zhiwen Qi (2nd from the right) from the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shanghai and Prof. Kai Sundmacher (left) from the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering have developed a student exchange program between the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and ECUST, which was presented to the Chancellor, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Strackeljan (right) in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Dominique Thévenin (2nd from the left).
In teaching, Prof. Qi supports the international master's degree program in Chemical and Energy Engineering (CEE) at the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering through the annual assignment of Chinese bachelor’s degree graduates. There is close cooperation in the field of computer-assisted design of environmentally-friendly solvents for chemical processes.
Prof. Qi worked as a research associate in Prof. Sundmacher's Process Systems Engineering department at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg from 1999 to 2005. He then worked as a scientist at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Zhiwen Qi has been teaching as a professor for Chemical Engineering at ECUST since 2008. During his visit to Magdeburg, Prof. Qi participated in the doctoral thesis defense of former ECUST student Teng Zhou, M.Sc. He was a reviewer for Mr. Zhou’s dissertation.
